Mission & Objectives

Stichting The Fix Media Foundation supports free press and independent media in Ukraine and Eastern Europe and contributes to building a more resilient and connected European media community.
The Foundation supports journalists and media organisations, particularly in times of crisis and transition, and contributes to the development and sustainability of independent media.
The Foundation pursues its objectives through grants and other forms of support to journalists and media organisations, cooperation and networking with donors, governments, NGOs and civil society organisations, professional events and knowledge exchange, research, awareness-raising and advocacy related to media freedom.
The Foundation does not aim to generate profits.

Policy

The Foundation uses its resources exclusively to pursue its statutory and public-benefit objectives.
Funding may come from subsidies and other contributions, gifts, bequests and legacies, and other lawful sources of income. Funds are allocated to programmes and activities that contribute to the Foundation’s mission and objectives.
The Foundation works with independent media organisations, journalists, civil society organisations, donors and other partners to strengthen independent journalism and media resilience.

Governance
The Foundation is governed by its Management Board.

The Management Board is responsible for the governance of the Foundation, its strategic direction, financial oversight, and ensuring that the Foundation’s resources are used in accordance with its objectives.

The Articles of Association provide for a Management Board consisting of an odd number of at least three members and specifically provide for the positions of Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.

Remuneration Policy

Members of the Management Board receive no remuneration for their Board duties.
Reasonable expenses incurred in the performance of their duties may be reimbursed upon submission of appropriate supporting documentation.
Employees, contractors and operational management may receive remuneration for work performed for the Foundation. Such remuneration is determined based on the nature of the work, responsibilities, experience and the Foundation’s financial capacity.

Activities

The Foundation’s activities include:
* supporting independent media organisations and journalists;
* providing grants and project support;
* strengthening media resilience and organisational capacity;
* facilitating cooperation between media, donors and other stakeholders;
* organising professional events, training and knowledge exchange;
* conducting research and supporting the development of independent journalism;
* raising awareness of media freedom and challenges facing independent media.

Financial Accountability

The Foundation’s financial year corresponds to the calendar year.
The Management Board is responsible for maintaining appropriate financial and administrative records and for preparing the Foundation’s balance sheet and statement of income and expenditure after the end of each financial year.
